Lots of Speak Up kids are somewhere on the Autism spectrum. Many of them have fairly mild Aspergers Syndrome. Working with kids who have ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is very interesting and rewarding, but it can be tricky to get your head around how their brains work! Students who are “on the spectrum” can have trouble with:
- Sensory Processing
- Language Processing
- Forward Thinking
- Emotional Awareness
- Competitiveness
